I chose the Sham Wow commerical, because there is alot of hype that goes along with this product. Because of the spokesman excentric personality this commercial has become a joke to most people. Many “youtube-er’s” have made parody’s to this particular commercial. However, the product has done its job to catch the public’s eye; regardless if its being taken seriously or a silly video.

I chose the Jimmy Dean “Spaced Out” tv ad because it portrays just how important breakfast is to everyday functionality. Plus, the groggy planets are simply hilarious.

The Oreck XL Ultra Vacuum Cleaner Commercial portrays only women vacuuming their homes. This is a perfect example of what Susan Bordo is trying to tell us. Society thinks its normal for only woman to do the cooking, and cleaning. If it was men vacuuming in this commercial I feel like many people would think that is odd.

I chose the Head On commercial because it is simplicity in advertising at its finest. We live in an era where there are directions on a bottle of shampoo, this commercial tells you EXACTLY what to do with the product… a few times.
Where the true genius lies in this however is that it’s a headache medication with a commercial that actually gives you a headache! Wow! Are you as impressed as I am with their PR department?

I guess I chose this commercial for T-moblie because its kind of confusing. If a person hadn’t seen the commercial before they would have no clue what it was for, what was trying to be sold. In a way that does get more people’s attention. But after watching it a couple times it is just funny in that stupid way.

I chose this commercial because I think it’s interesting how much technology has changed in just a few years, cell phones are now capable of doing almost anything a computer can do, and some people depend on them for almost everything that they do.

I chose this article because I think this its absolutely great. It uses comedy to appeal to their specific demographic. Males who love beer and women and the conflicts one might face while buying beer and porn.

I chose this one because it is showing what feelings and effects could happen if women splurge in public and not in private and to themselves.

I have always thought these eTrade baby ads were so funny but this one sticks out to me the most out of all of them because when he’s talking about checking his stocks on his blackberry, he gets a text and says something like, “oh, bad girl.” This is funny, but at the same time the ad is using a cute little baby for sexual innuendos…. I think what makes it so funny is because its a baby, but you can see that the commercial is using sex to get their point across: which is get a blackberry so you can check your stocks on the go. This commercial uses sex to get your attention, as well as the baby, so you’ll use your blackberry to get on etrade.com and keep an eye on your stocks.

I chose this commercial because it depicts every aspect of what Susan Bordo describes in her article. It shows a thin women indulging in a chocolate cake by herself, in private, like she’s commiting a crime.
